Back to Basics.......Ideas on how to live through hard times in 2008

It is amazing how people do not like to use the words depression or recession.  I was just talking to

a gentleman who like us is looking for ways to cover his cost of living.  Sell land but the prices are not there.  Get a third job but the job market is low.  So where do we go from here?

We go back to basics.  Bread is suppose to raise in price to $8.00 per loaf, so we make our own bread.  Food is suppose to also jump in price. I guess it is time to put in a garden.  Through out the years I have done a lot of research on how to live with just the basic elements in our life.  Some may ask what made me do this, well I always had a great interest in how my grandparents made it through the depression and raised eight kids.  When I was growing up my folks used the same techniques as my grandparents.  At an early age I learned how to cook from scratch to butchering and using every part of an animal that was edible.  We also learned how to sew, knit, pasteurize milk, make butter, cheese, and wine.  I want to share this with others who did not have the old schooling as I had.  To the left of this page you will see different topics I would like to share with you.  This information is free.  As I am developing this site you can email me with any questions you might have.  Click here to submit your question or concern.

Are we really in a recession?  I am not sure.  Some people say we are and others do not agree.  I myself am not sure.  I do know that the gas is going up in price, food is very expensive and people are being laid off left and right.  With all this happening around us I do know one thing for certain, The Lord will provide.  We have a roof over our heads, food on the table and the kids are happy.  So what can we do to improve our current conditions? In my opinion not a whole lot except making smart decisions in your home and your daily living.
